Its new family film, in theaters July 8, uses computer animation techniques to tell the story of a group of NYC pets who end up on an unexpected adventure. Illumination Entertainment is best known for the Despicable M e franchise, but with the new movie The Secret Life of Pets, the studio is expanding its reach into new territory.
